OWNER & FOUNDER
MORGAN FRANKLIN
After six years in the classroom, Morgan Franklin founded empowerED minds to provide students with the individualized support that they desperately need but typically lack access to in the classroom.
As a certified secondary math and special education teacher, Morgan helped shape Montgomery County curricula and supported students of all academic and personal backgrounds. As a Teach for America alumna, Morgan earned her Master’s Degree in Education from Johns Hopkins University. While teaching in Baltimore City, Morgan earned the Transformational Impact Distinction Award for fostering 2 years of student academic growth in just one school year.

Since 2021, empowerED Minds has supported more than 75 families in the greater Washington, DC region, and has expanded to a team of twelve (and growing) exceptional educators to reach additional families and their unique needs.
OUR SERVICES
1:1 & SMALL GROUP TUTORING
Our personalized 1:1 and small group academic support is individualized to meet the specific needs of each student. We offer tutoring and mentoring services for a variety of K-12 and college subjects including math, reading, writing, and science. Our individualized approach prioritizes building confidence to achieve academic success both inside and outside the classroom.
EXCECUTIVE FUNCTIONING
We collaborate with students and their families to develop individualized strategies to improve executive functioning skills such as task initiation, work completion, working memory, planning, prioritization, and defining and achieving goals. Our tailored approach instills essential life-long skills designed to help students achieve their full potential in the classroom and beyond.

MCPS Special Education Resource Teacher
Ms. Franklin displays a deep commitment and passion with teaching math to all students. Of note, is her dedication to special education students who may struggle with math skills and concepts. Ms. Franklin has the experience and natural gift to successfully differentiate instruction for individual learners so that they can access, engage, and comprehend math skills. She teaches math language, uses visuals, provides organizational tools, and repeatedly models steps for math problem solving within her instruction. Ms. Franklin consistently connects math concepts and skills to real world/life application that are meaningful for students at their level to increase the message of why learning math is so important. Ms. Franklin develops strong positive relationships with students which make them eager to learn and work collaboratively with her. Ms. Franklin is a master teacher who will work diligently to support and encourage the success of struggling learners with math!

Ms. Franklin takes time to build relationships with students and works tirelessly to create a nurturing yet challenging environment. She is warm, accessible, enthusiastic and caring.
